Becoming a Member

Garden plots are leased on an annual basis (January 1 to December 31).  Members in good standing are automatically eligible for renewal from year to year.  The cost of a plot at the ACG depends on the size of your garden. There are 28 4x10 foot plots ($70); six 4x8 foot plots ($60); and three enabling beds ($35).  Enabling beds are small plots raised to a height of three feet and priority for these plots is given to persons with disabilities who might not otherwise be able to garden.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the ACG, please send us an email via our “contact” page.  You will be placed on our waiting list for an available opening. Space at the garden is limited and vacancies occur only when an existing gardener decides not to renew.  Be sure to provide a valid email address as this is the only way we will contact you to advise that a garden plot is available. Notice of vacancies to persons on the waiting list are sent in early December.  Once notified, you will be given ten days to respond to this email. After ten days, if no response is received, the garden plot will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.

Priority for ACG membership is given to residents of Alpharetta.  If space is available after all eligible Alpharetta residents have been selected from the waiting list, non-Alpharetta residents can join but will be charged a 50% premium to the annual fee paid by city residents.  This follows the policy imposed by the city of Alpharetta for all of their parks and recreation programs.

Renewing Members

Garden plots are leased on an annual basis (January 1 to December 31).  Members in good standing are automatically eligible for renewal from year to year.  An ‘intent to renew’ email is sent to existing members in early November. A response is required by mid-December.

The registration packet which includes the registration form, waivers, garden rules agreement and volunteer interest sheet is emailed to all returnees by mid-January. The required forms and payment must be received by the date specified in the packet. Failure to meet the deadline will result in their plot being assigned to another interested gardener.
